Lately, I have been asking myself if I would be convinced to steal a map. The idea struck me that until now, there has been no news on the whereabouts of the
stolen maps in Finland. I mean, who the heck would care to slink maps as big as windows. Also, I could not imagine how the maps were stolen. With their sizes, it is almost impossible to pilfer them all at once.
Wait, you might be wondering what I am talking about. It is about a theft that happened some three years ago in Finland. Immediately, the case was brought to the attention of Washington DC, since two of the said maps were American cartographies, while the other four feature the
European continent map and New England maps. It is just unbelievable that the thief has managed to get all six of them, while leaving the Interpol with no tracks to trace. Alright, so the maps were ancient. I mean, they were made some hundreds of years ago. Their papers could have almost turned yellow, but the colors are still bright, and the texts are still clear. I have seen such kinds in movies, and
computer games. Also, some of its replicas are kept in museums. But, what is the big deal in owning them? Perhaps the thief made money out of it. But, still, the maps are part of history, and they can never be used to refer to places in our time because the names have undergone drastic changes as years passed. Oh well, the maps were still nowhere to be found. Or maybe, they will never be found.
