French Guiana

I have been fooled by a friend who convinced me that French Guiana is a part of the great European continent. I did my assignment. I found that the country actually belongs to South America. But, until now, I still cannot comprehend why it was named French Guiana.

So, here I am again, holding a geography book. The country is seldom spoken of, so I am not surprised to find minimal information about it. As to the land area it covers not less than 91,000 square kilometers. If that is the case then, it is no smaller than Indiana. But, here comes the puzzle. According to its history, it was inhabited by French settlers during the 17th century. Since then, the country adapted the French government system. But, when I referred to the listings of the countries, French Guiana is found under South America, while it is represented by the French flag. Consider it as a joke but it is true.

By the way, Guyane is one of the most beautiful places on earth. My aunt went there for the photography session. The pictures revealed Guyane to be mostly of low lands and wide plains with diversified flora and fauna. Typically, the country experiences fair weather, while it seldom rains there. I wonder if it also a perfect summer destination. Also, Guyane is famous for its wilderness.
