I could still clearly remember how depressed I was upon losing in a spelling contest all because I was not able to spell Czechoslovakia. My biggest mistake was that I put an S next to C when it must be a Z. Little is known about this country, and I only get to hear its name on
beauty pageants.
I have learned that this country emerged from an empire composed of two related peoples. They joined forces roughly after World War I. But, after the unification, the Slovaks and the Czechs faced different racial problems. They have been debating over the superiority of one other. The Soviets took advantage of this weakness and Czechoslovakia fell in their hands after
World War II. But, the peoples learned to fight until finally they have succeeded in regaining their sovereignty.
The country became independent in 1993. Since then, it has become productive and a great nation sharpened by communistic invasion. To this date,
Czechoslovakian Republic is among the leading nations in Europe. It produces timber, soft coal, clay, and hard coal. Although situated in the southeastern part of Germany, the weather in Czechoslovakia is temperate. It experiences cool summers and humid winters.
