
Considered as the fourth
most populous city in the world, Seoul is also one of the smallest cities in Korea. The city's traditional heart is the old Joseon Dynasty city. Now, this is the downtown area wherein the palaces, government offices, corporate headquarters, hotels and traditional markets can be found. Being one of the most industrialized cities in Asia, there's a lot of buildings in Seoul. Among them are Korea Finance Building, Namsan Tower and World Trade Center, the six-skyscraper residence Tower Palace, and I-Park Apartments. Seoul has the most number of skycrapers in Asia. So far, there are nine major subway lines stretching for more than 250 kilometres in Seoul. The tenth line is being planned already. One of the most significant area in Seoul is the "Bell Street" or Jongno. Jongno is a major east-west thoroughfare in central Seoul, South Korea, connecting Sejongno to Dongdaemun.
There has been a lot of developments in Seoul. As an effect, there's also a significant increase in the number of foreigners thriving in the area. Today, there is an estimated 200,000 foreign nationals in Seoul. There's also a number of teachers from
English-speaking countries who are teaching Koreans to speak with an American accent.
